Rosie XL Replica Review: When Bigger Isn’t Always Better

Today we’re looking at the Oz Machine Co Roosevelt 'Rosie' XL replica. This version features cryogenically treated D2 steel instead of MagnaCut and runs on ceramic ball bearings that deliver an impressively smooth, drop-shut action. The overall fit and finish are nicely executed, making this an interesting take on the popular design.

However, the XL has a fundamental issue - rather than thoughtfully scaling up the original's perfect EDC proportions, they simply enlarged everything 1:1. The result is oversized finger choils and ergonomics that might work for someone with truly massive hands but lose the "hand-melting" comfort that made the original Roosevelt legendary. What could have been an exciting larger version instead feels cartoonishly proportioned for average-sized hands. It's a missed opportunity to preserve the magic of the original while adding some extra blade length.
