This is the first video in a brand new series that I want to do this year to see how the blade steel on some of the replica knives compares to the steel on “real” (non-replica) knives.
OK-229 Cut Test: Does This M390 Steel Make the Grade?
OK-229 Cut Test: Does This M390 Steel Make the Grade?
The knife handled all the cutting just fine - sliced through cardboard, rope, hose, and wood without much trouble. But the edge didn't stay as sharp as I expected from real M390 steel. That said, it's still a darn good work knife, especially for what it costs. If you need a tough blade that can take a beating and don't mind touching up the edge now and then, this one's still worth a look. Check out the full test to see exactly how it did and why I'm still giving it a thumbs up despite the edge retention being a bit of a letdown.
