After a disappointing first run with the Ontario RAT Model 1.5 in MagnaCut, I decided to give this knife a second chance. The poor factory grind seemed to be the culprit initially, so I completely resharpened it to a fresh 18-degree edge using the WorkSharp Pro Precision system before putting it through our Redneck Cut Tests again.
Did the premium MagnaCut steel live up to its reputation this time around? With a proper edge and careful testing, I expected better results - but sometimes knives surprise us, for better or worse.
