Testing the Vosteed Raccoon: EDC Favorite in Action

Today we're running the incredibly popular Vosteed Raccoon Top Liner Lock through our Redneck Cut Tests to see if its performance matches its reputation. This 14C28N steel blade delivered pretty much exactly what you'd expect from a quality knife in this category - reliable, consistent cutting performance throughout our cardboard, rope, rubber hose, and stick tests.

What stands out most about the Raccoon isn't necessarily reflected in the raw numbers - this blade feels noticeably more "slicey" in hand than the test scores might indicate. Paired with its excellent ergonomics that make extended cutting comfortable, this knife remains one of our favorite EDCs despite showing average edge retention. Drop a comment if you've put your Raccoon through some hard use and let us know how it's holding up!

While there are a lot of multitools out there that are far better quality than these, I still prefer to pack these into my EDC emergency kits. They are some of the least expensive options you can buy, but there’s still enough quality here to fit the role that they fill in my EDC kits.
